A test of public alert systems at the regional and municipal levels will be held on October 2 in all regions of Russia, TASS reports with reference to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.
During the test, sirens and loudspeakers will be activated, and public mandatory TV and radio channels will be replaced.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations urges citizens not to panic at the sound of the siren, but to turn on any available TV or radio channel to receive an information message. The alert system is designed to promptly inform the public about potential threats and emergencies of a natural and man-made nature.
The test will assess the operability of alert systems and the readiness of on-duty personnel authorized to launch the systems. The ministry noted that regular checks are necessary to ensure effective delivery of signals and information to the public in the event of emergencies.
Thus, on October 2, from 10:30 to 12:00, a comprehensive check of the readiness of the regional public alert system will be held in the Moscow region. During the test, electric sirens will be turned on, and the message "Attention everyone!" will be broadcast on radio and television. At 10:43, information about the testing of the alert system will be broadcast on federal TV channels.
