The companies concluded a strategic partnership agreement at the EEF. The document envisages the development of joint programs for the mass use of satellite communications for citizens, all modes of transport, and any mobile objects based on Russian operating satellites in geostationary orbit. Prior to its signing, the future partners conducted a series of successful tests of Russian small-sized trackers, subscriber terminals for data and voice transmission developed by JSC GLONASS.
The equipment developed by JSC GLONASS and tested via Gazprom Space Systems satellites will significantly improve the safety of passenger transportation, including the Arctic zone of Russia, and make logistics more efficient for business, including the country's fuel and energy complex. And it should be noted that it is thanks to the cooperation of leading companies in the space industry that the creation of new applied technologies is possible. And I hope that we will continue their joint creation and implementation.
A new service will also appear: a hybrid communication network. It was developed on the basis of ERA-GLONASS and is already being tested for monitoring civilian unmanned aircraft, tourist groups, forestry equipment, and emergency alerts to improve the safety of forestry employees who work daily in hazardous conditions outside of cellular coverage areas. In partnership with Gazprom, it is planned to develop and supplement it.
Thus, the following will appear on the Russian market:
- transport telematics and monitoring of any mobile objects throughout the country, regardless of cellular coverage. This will allow, in the event of emergencies anywhere in Russia, to provide emergency alerts via ERA-GLONASS through GLONASS terminals with an SOS button. Then, specialists will receive the exact coordinates of the victims, come to the rescue, and save people;
- voice mobile satellite communications for citizens and organizations, available throughout Russia;
- a satellite channel for high-precision navigation, which is urgently needed, in particular, by highly automated agricultural machines and maritime transport.
Earlier in June, it became known that Gazprom is starting to produce Smotr-V satellites. Not only will they be produced at the facilities of Gazprom SPKA, but also devices in the interests of Roscosmos and other customers.
