NtechLab (a technology partner of Rostec Group) will integrate an artificial intelligence (AI)-based facial recognition system into the onboard computers of Russian Atom electric vehicles. This was reported by the press service of Rostec Group.
The development will be the first of its kind in Russia. It will improve security and allow the car to adapt to a specific family member. The AI will be taught to distinguish a living person from a photograph, an image on a smartphone, or a silicone mask.
Driver authentication is performed directly behind the wheel, or using a mobile application. It will not be possible to deceive the system, it recognizes a person in glasses and a headdress, as well as in low light conditions.
So far, the service is being developed for "family" cars, where the system will be able to recognize several drivers. In the future, developers plan to configure authentication for car-sharing vehicles.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the Atom electric vehicle will be the first in Russia to receive a cyber-immune electronic control unit.
