Owners of private Telegram channels will be able to earn money from advertising through the "Yandex Advertising Network" (YAN). This innovation allows you to monetize channels that are only accessible via an invitation link. Thus, advertisers will be able to promote themselves in channels with exclusive content and a more targeted audience.
Monetization is available for private channels with an audience of 2,000+ subscribers. Owners of such channels can create a more interested audience and protect themselves from bots by providing access only through special links. All channels cooperating with YAN undergo strict moderation, which allows advertisers to view content and evaluate subscriber engagement before placing ads.
Advertising posts in private channels will be displayed as regular posts with images or videos and links to advertised products. These posts are automatically marked, and information about advertising is transferred to the ERIR in accordance with the law.
Advertising ads are selected using neural networks based on the topic and geography of the channel, and are published by the Yandex bot. Channel owners can customize the frequency, time, and days of the week when ads will appear in their channel.
Since the tool was tested in July 2023, Telegram channels have earned 1 billion rubles with Yandex. Currently, more than 8,000 channels from Russia, Belarus and Uzbekistan cooperate with the Yandex Advertising Network.
Anton Skornyakov, Head of Advertising Products and Inventory Development at Yandex Advertising, notes that expanding monetization opportunities for private channels will significantly increase YAN's inventory in Telegram, since up to 25% of subscribers are in private channels, which makes them more attractive to advertisers.
