At the LADA factory, the car body undergoes a complex painting process that begins long before it hits the assembly line. Body galvanization begins at the metallurgical plant, where a layer of zinc is applied to the steel sheet. This galvanized metal then arrives at the factory in the form of rolls, which are cut and stamped into body blanks.
After the welding stage, the body enters the paint shop, where it undergoes multi-stage processing. First, the body is degreased and phosphated, then a cataphoretic (primary) primer is applied. For this, the body is immersed in a bath with a composition that fills all hidden cavities. Next, a polyester (secondary) primer is applied, after which it is coated with a base enamel and varnish on a robotic line.
The process is completed by applying a liquid wax composition to hidden cavities, which serves as additional protection against corrosion. Between these stages, the body undergoes several intermediate stages of drying, quality control, polishing, as well as applying seam sealant and anti-gravel to the bottom.
