A major fire broke out in a three-story administrative building on Berezhkovskaya Embankment, building 20, structure 9, in Moscow. The fire area is 1000 square meters, and firefighters have been fighting the fire for several hours. The fire started on the second floor of the building, but the cause of the fire is still unknown.
More than 130 people, 45 pieces of equipment, as well as the fire ship "Colonel Chernyshev" and two Ka-32 helicopters of the Moscow Aviation Center are involved in extinguishing the fire. Helicopters with water discharge devices dropped 40 tons of water on the building.
Due to the incident, traffic is temporarily blocked on three lanes in the area of the fire, traffic is moving in the opposite direction, which was organized by the Moscow Department of Transport to minimize traffic jams.
The multipurpose fire and rescue river ship "Colonel Chernyshev" has been serving on the Moscow River since 2008. The main tasks of the ship include extinguishing large fires on the water and near the water area, for which it is equipped with powerful water monitors and pumps capable of supplying up to 320 liters of water per second. In addition, the ship participates in rescue operations, preventing the spread of oil products, and can provide electricity to social facilities on the shore in the event of an accident.
