Начали с «Кремлёвской»: в Казани запустили оплату проезда в метро по биометрии

The official launch of the new payment system took place at the Kremlyovskaya metro station in Kazan

On September 1, 2024, a new biometric metro fare payment system was launched in Kazan, with the official launch at the Kremlyovskaya metro station. This technology, developed by the National Payment Card System (NSPK) and the Center for Biometric Technologies (CBT), uses the Face2 machine vision solution from Ak Bars Bank.

Passengers who have registered their biometrics on the "Gosuslugi" portal and linked it to a payment instrument of any supporting bank can now pay for travel and other services simply by looking at a special device. Payment is made through the Faster Payments System (FPS).

As part of the pilot project, from September 15, 2024, passengers will be able to receive a cashback of 15 rubles for each trip.

Dmitry Dubynin, CEO of NSPK, noted that a single registration in the Unified Biometric System provides access to many services, including contactless payment for purchases and electronic signature registration.

The Kazan Metro, which opened in 2005 as the first new metro built in the Russian Federation after the collapse of the USSR, includes 11 stations on one line. The last station, Dubravnaya, was opened in August 2018.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that biometric payment appeared in the new version of the "SBPey" application. This update is part of the project to launch bio-acquiring.
