Переговоры продолжаются: крупнейшие операторы связи договариваются об отмене роуминга в Крыму

Work is planned to be carried out on the networks of "Miranda-media"

"MegaFon", "VimpelCom" and MTS are negotiating with the company "Miranda-media" to abolish roaming in Crimea and Sevastopol.

Recently, these operators were initiated by the FAS due to additional fees for communication services in Crimea.

At the same time, the FAS stated that all conditions for the abolition of roaming had been created. However, experts say that problems still remain. They are related to the difference in calculations between regional and federal operators.

It is worth noting that roaming was abolished in Russia in 2019. But other conditions applied to Crimea and Sevastopol. Problems arose due to the lack of network infrastructure of large Russian operators on the territory of the peninsula, and subscribers on the peninsula continue to be served by local companies operating under agreements with small operators.

Roaming in Crimea for the "big three" is a matter of economic efficiency: as long as Crimean operators do not want to reduce the rate on interconnection, the abolition of roaming is unprofitable for federal players.

MTS and "VimpelCom" declined to comment on the situation. Representatives of "MegaFon" noted that they are in dialogue with partners and strive to reduce the cost of communication services for their subscribers.
