Уберегают «мозг» беспилотников: в Санкт-Петербурге создали систему для защиты дронов

The device was created based on blockchain technology and cryptography

A system for protecting unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has been created at the St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation (SPb GUAP). This was reported by the press service of the university.

The new development was created using cryptography and blockchain technology. It will protect UAVs from cyberattacks.

Firstly, we need to protect ourselves from malicious training datasets, which are essentially similar to malicious programs (Trojans, viruses, etc.). Secondly, it is necessary to protect the network itself, which can be attacked. Since it is very difficult to predict the behavior of an attacker in advance, we needed to create a system that would be safely stored and trained.
Sergey Bezzateev, Head of the Department of Information Security at GUAP

Protocols based on cryptographic algorithms have been developed for data collection, storage, and processing. They are based on private and open blockchain technology. Due to it, data is transmitted in blocks, each of which contains a link to the previous one. This approach ensures information protection.

For additional protection, the developers used an electronic signature algorithm. It is applied by the developer before launching the drone. This makes it possible to confirm the serviceability of the neural network.

An effective event verification protocol is currently being developed using elements of the IoT infrastructure (a global network that allows "smart" devices to interact with each other). This will allow for better verification of the information received from these systems.
