At the "Research Center" "TOPAZ", with the participation of the Boreskov Institute of Catalysis of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IK SB RAS), an energy-saving platform has been developed for operation in extreme temperatures. The device was presented at the "Technoprom-2024" forum. This was reported by the press service of the university.
The energy supply platform runs on hydrogen obtained from carbon fuel.
The power plant can be used in any climatic conditions, and its applications range from radio communication systems to robotics. The manufacturer conducted tests in the range from -60 to +60C.
The device is a line of compact modular electrochemical generators. They have a high specific capacity and different configurations.
The platform is based on micro tubular solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) and structured catalysts for the conversion of hydrocarbon fuel.
The "Topaz Gamma-M" unit was presented at "Technoprom-2024". The power of the device is 0.1 kW. The generator runs on hydrogen-containing gas. It is created from natural gas or propane-butane mixture inside the power plant.
Energy inside the device is generated by an electrochemical reaction of oxidation of hydrogen-containing synthesis gas. At the same time, structured catalysts provide the conversion of the initial hydrocarbon fuel into synthesis gas for powering SOFC.
The development can be used in video surveillance, transport, robotics, radio communications, cellular communications, navigation and other fields.
Earlier www1.ru reported that a new gas power plant from Rostec was presented.
