Scientists from Chuvashia have developed a method for confirming the varietal identity of hops, which will ensure an accurate assessment of the quality and purity of the planting material.
The Rector of the Chuvash State Agrarian University, Andrei Makushev, announced that work is currently underway to obtain state confirmation of this methodology. The research is being conducted at the "Chuvashia - Hop Production Center of Competence," which operates at the agricultural university.
The developed system will make it possible to verify the quality of planting material at the stage of laying hop gardens, which is critical for farmers who want to be sure that they are purchasing planting material that meets the stated varieties and characteristics. The key aspects of the work are the development of the methodology, obtaining results, and transferring data to the sphere of state quality confirmation, including the laboratory base and employee qualifications.
The university is also continuing to work on the selection of new hop varieties and the creation of DNA passports. In 2023, a phytosanitary monitoring system was formed to control 15 major viral and bacterial diseases of hops.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that a private industrial park, "Mashzavod," was launched in the Chuvash capital for its 555th anniversary. The park houses the production of agricultural seeders, hop harvesters, and truck-mounted concrete pumps.
