The system received a remote control system, a thermal imager, and the ability to use shells with programmable air burst.

The explosion of several munitions creates a cloud of fragments, increasing the likelihood of hitting micro and mini-UAVs, which are cheap. It is expensive to shoot at them with large calibers and missiles.
Vladimir Ukhandeev, Deputy Chief Designer of STC Elins

Ukhandeev added that the modernized "Zushka" is already undergoing field tests and there is a request for it from the Armed Forces.

Tactical and technical characteristics of ZU-23-2:

  • Caliber — 23 mm
  • Gun length — 2555 mm
  • Rate of fire — 2000 rounds/min
  • Firing range — 1.5 km in height
  • Crew — 6 people
