The United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) has received a patent for the technology of individual and group (coordinated) operation of unmanned tugs. This was reported by the corporation's press service.
The methodology, developed at USC-Technologies, is designed to perform mooring operations of a vessel by a group of tugs under the control of an operator located on shore. The specialist can monitor the impact of external factors on ships in real time, including hydrodynamic forces.
This is the first invention of its kind in Russia. The existing ship management systems in the country allow remote interaction with only one tug. The new methodology appeared within the framework of the federal project "Autonomous Navigation".
