The Russian Aerospace Forces are armed with the long-range supersonic missile-carrying bomber Tu-22MZ, designed to engage sea and ground targets with aerial bombs and guided missiles.
It is a deeply modernized variant of the Tu-22M2 with significantly enhanced defensive and combat capabilities, a carrier of nuclear and conventional bombs, aeroballistic and cruise missiles.
The aircraft has a three-point retractable landing gear with a nose strut and a semi-monocoque fuselage. The power plant consists of two NK-25 turbofan engines.
The deeply modernized missile-carrying bomber Tu-22M3M made its first flight on December 28, 2018.
