The Russian government has submitted a bill to the State Duma, according to which the OSAGO policy will extend to Belarus. If the bill is passed, the new rule will take effect on October 1, 2024.
To implement this initiative, a unified system of mandatory civil liability insurance for vehicle owners will be created within the Union State. Only insurers located in Russia or Belarus will be able to issue OSAGO policies, and the vehicle for insurance must be registered in the territory of the Union State.
The fact of car insurance will be reflected in an automated information system, and the authorized bodies will verify the conclusion of the contract by request.
It should be reminded that currently, to travel to Belarus by private transport, you need to issue a "Blue Card". A list of insurance companies that provide this service is available on the RSA website. The cost of the policy starts from 950 rubles. To conclude a contract, you need to provide a vehicle registration certificate and a passport. The minimum insurance period is 15 days.
