In 2023, large and medium-sized Russian enterprises spent 329 billion rubles on the creation and acquisition of software, which is 6% more than in 2022 and a record figure in the history of observations. This data is presented in a study by the audit and consulting network FinExpertiza. Over the past six years, annual corporate spending on software in Russia has almost tripled.
The largest increase in expenses was recorded in St. Petersburg, where enterprises increased software costs by 24.2 billion rubles, as well as in the Krasnodar Territory (5.8 billion rubles), the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (3 billion rubles), the Chelyabinsk Region (2.3 billion rubles), the Vologda Region (2 billion rubles), Tatarstan (1.7 billion rubles), and the Sverdlovsk Region.
In 2023, the average Russian company spent 3.9 million rubles on software, with the maximum expenses recorded in the YaNAO, St. Petersburg, Moscow, and the Vologda Region.
In 2023, the growth rate was 6%, which is more than two times lower compared to 13.2% in 2022. This slowed growth is partly due to the acquisition of multi-year licenses in 2022 and the transition to gray import schemes. In addition, corporate users, despite the departure of Western vendors from the Russian market, continue to use their products to avoid possible data loss when switching to Russian counterparts.
In the sectoral breakdown, the largest funds were invested in the field of information and communications (129.3 billion rubles), manufacturing industry (69.2 billion rubles), wholesale and retail trade (40.5 billion rubles), professional, scientific, and technical activities (21.4 billion rubles), as well as transportation and storage (16.4 billion rubles).
