Rutube on iOS is finished: Apple has again removed the Russian video hosting app from the App Store

Roskomnadzor demanded the return of Rutube to the App Store

The Russian video hosting application Rutube has been removed from the App Store. The application remains available to users of gadgets based on the Android OS via Google Play.

The reasons for removing the application may be related to Apple's policy requiring the concealment of content from Russian state media. Last year, Rutube refused to remove such content, stating that it violated the rights of Russian-speaking users.

Those who have already downloaded the application to iOS devices can continue to use it, but new users will not be able to download it. Rutube said they are working to restore access to the application in the App Store.

Roskomnadzor sent a letter to the administration of the App Store platform with requirements to remove all restrictions imposed, inform the department about this, and provide explanations for the reasons for removing the application from the App Store.

Against the background of restrictions imposed on other platforms, Rutube has become an important alternative for Russian bloggers and the media, especially for those involved in political and social content.
