The Almaz-Antey Air and Space Defence Concern will present the Abakan anti-missile defense (AMD) system at the Army-2024 military-technical forum. This was reported by the concern's press service.
Almaz-Antey noted that in terms of the number of combat elements, Abakan is the most compact means of non-strategic anti-missile defense, and all processes of its combat operation are automated.
The complex has no analogues and is designed to engage modern and advanced tactical, operational-tactical, non-strategic ballistic missiles.
The concern added that thanks to optimal technical solutions, Abakan is capable of significantly strengthening the air defense grouping with the function of non-strategic anti-missile defense or operating autonomously.
It was noted that the complex will be presented as a full-scale model of the 51P6E2 launcher and a model of one of the highest-speed long-range 9M82MDE anti-aircraft missiles.
Tactical and technical characteristics of the Abakan SAM system:
- Firing range against ballistic targets (min/max, km) — 12/40
- Target speed — up to 4000 m/sec
- Altitude of targets engaged (min/max, km) — 2/30
