Turkish authorities are considering integrating the S-400 "Triumph" anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) purchased from Russia into their "Iron Dome" air defense system. This was reported by Hürriyet, citing the results of a meeting of the executive committee for the development of the Turkish defense industry.
The "Iron Dome" air defense system will include systems operating at low, medium, and high altitudes. Low-altitude systems are aimed at helicopters and UAVs, medium-altitude systems are aimed at missiles and aircraft. Systems designed for high altitudes will intercept ballistic missiles.
According to him, the "Iron Dome" will include Hisar-A, Hisar-O, Siper systems developed by Aselsan, as well as the Russian S-400.
We purchased the S-400 SAM systems in a timely manner due to an urgent need, as the United States and other countries did not provide us with their own air defense systems. The S-400 is mobile and ready to counter threats.
Turkey purchased four divisions of S-400 "Triumph" from Russia for $2.5 billion. After this deal, the United States excluded Turkey from the F-35 fighter development program.
