The characteristics and purpose of the promising Russian "Peresvet" combat laser complex have become known. The information was published in the "Army Collection" magazine published by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, authored by D. Stolyarov, adjunct of the Military Academy of the Strategic Missile Forces named after Peter the Great, and A. Petrov, candidate of technical sciences.
The material was published under the title "Neutralizing a Rapid Global Strike", and it is dedicated to methods of countering the "Rapid Global Strike" concept adopted by NATO.
The article states that "Peresvet" is designed to cover strategically important areas and objects, locations of military equipment of the Strategic Missile Forces units, and routes of movement from enemy optical reconnaissance satellites.
The authors indicated that the combat laser is capable of suppressing enemy spacecraft with its radiation and disabling them.
