The Central Research Institute for Precision Machine Engineering (TsNIITOCHMASH JSC, part of the Kalashnikov concern) has started production of upgraded "Olymp-D" cartridges. The new cartridge, dubbed "service", is available in 12/70 and 12/76 gauges.
Unlike the previous version, which was designed for hunting rifles, the "Olymp-D" cartridge is designed for use by private security companies, departmental security, and other organizations that work with service smoothbore firearms. The updated cartridge has improved characteristics, such as increased efficiency and safety.
The "Olymp-D" is made using the latest materials, high-quality gunpowder, and an innovative primer composition, which eliminates the risk of case rupture, reduces contamination and wear of the barrel, and ensures high accuracy and uniform shot pattern at temperatures from -20℃ to +50℃.
