Master of the Seas: "Karelia" nuclear-powered missile carrier to complete repairs in 2025

The submarine will remain in service with the Russian Navy until 2038

The strategic nuclear-powered missile cruiser "Karelia" of Project 667BDRM "Dolphin" will complete repairs at the Zvezdochka Ship Repair Center and go to sea for testing in 2025, according to Vladimir Maltsev, head of the All-Russian Fleet Support Movement (DPF).

According to him, the active zone was replaced on the "Karelia", and the ship is currently undergoing dock repairs.

The submarine will remain in service until 2038. It will remain armed with 16 Sineva intercontinental ballistic missiles. Currently, two submarine crews are undergoing training at the training center in Obninsk.

The R-29RMU2 Sineva is a three-stage liquid ballistic missile for third-generation submarines with a sequential arrangement of stages. The warhead can be equipped with four small-sized high-speed unguided warheads with a capacity of about 500 kt each. The maximum range depends on the throw-over weight and can exceed 11 thousand km.
