MiG-31BM is a modern version of the supersonic long-range interceptor fighter. It is designed to detect and destroy aerial targets at extremely low, low, medium and high altitudes, in all weather conditions and at any time of day.
The advanced aircraft is capable of detecting up to 24 aerial targets, and can engage 8 of them simultaneously.
The interceptor is equipped with new radar stations and a weapon control system that allows detecting targets at a range of up to 320 km and engaging them at a distance of up to 280 km.
The modernized MiGs will gain an advantage in air combat thanks to the R-37 missiles. They have a longer range than any projectiles that are placed, in particular, on American F-16 fighters.
In addition, the MiG-31BM was armed with the latest RVV-AE medium-range missile. The range of weapons has been expanded with Kh-31P anti-radar missiles, air-to-surface missiles Kh-29T, Kh-59, Kh-59M. The aircraft can carry up to six KAB-1500 guided bombs or up to eight KAB-500 with laser or television guidance. The maximum combat load is 9000 kg.
Rostec noted that work has begun to extend the life of the MiG-31BM by several thousand flight hours, which will allow them to remain in service for about another ten years. Experts believe that the resource of the titanium hull of aircraft built about 30 years ago is practically inexhaustible.
Earlier,www1.ru reported that a new flight crew is beingbeing formed for the cruiser Admiral Kuznetsov. Pilots are training over the Kola Peninsula and the Barents Sea.
