Прикроют башни и корпуса танков: военный эксперт объяснил, что поможет защититься от американского ПТРК Javelin

The armor penetration of a monolithic dynamic protection is about 750 mm

Russian military personnel received an FGM-148C anti-tank guided missile of the American Javelin portable anti-tank missile system (ATGM) as a trophy. Military expert Evgeny Damantsev analyzed its component base and explained what will help protect against this missile.

Damantsev drew attention to the leading cumulative charge of the tandem warhead (warhead), the axis of which is shifted by 2/3 of the diameter from the axis of the main cumulative charge. This was done to prevent a decrease in the efficiency of the cumulative jet of the main charge when colliding with the "working body" of the leading cumulative charge that has slowed down in the armor dimension. At the same time, the armor penetration of monolithic dynamic protection is about 750 mm.

In addition, the missile has an outdated cadmium-gallium telluride infrared homing head (IR GOS) with a germanium lens and a reflex optical system. This IR seeker is not capable of selecting the true IR signature of the target against the background of remote IR traps used on battle tanks.

Consequently, the advanced anti-cumulative "visors" placed on tanks, covering the upper projection of turrets and hulls, provide protection against FGM-148C missiles, especially if the "visors" are equipped with an additional array of 4S20 DZ "Kontakt-1" elements.
