Specialists of the "Special Design Bureau of Mechanical Engineering" (part of the "High-Precision Complexes" holding of the Rostec State Corporation) have begun work in several areas to protect the landing force from drones and infantry fighting vehicles, including active protection.
A company representative noted that for the past two years they have been working on protecting vehicles from small-sized unmanned aerial vehicles, including FPV drones and conventional drones.
There are three main areas of work: suppression using electronic warfare, protective structures, and physical destruction of drones at some distance. Certain work is underway in all three areas. We cannot say more details, but the list of work is extensive: from anti-drone visors to active protection.
According to him, the active protection system (APS) precisely destroys guided missiles and anti-tank grenades approaching the vehicle by firing special ammunition at them. Targets are detected by a special radar station.
SKBM is the developer of Russian infantry fighting vehicles. The newest version of the vehicle, the BMP-3, was developed by the bureau's team in the second half of the 1980s, and the manufacturer was Kurganmashzavod. In the troops, this equipment received the affectionate name "Queen of Infantry".
Earlier www1.ru reported that the modernized Ka-27M helicopters arrived for service with the Pacific Fleet in Primorye. They are designed for anti-submarine warfare.
