Russian Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun systems are capable of intercepting missiles from American F-16 fighters, according to military expert Evgeny Damantsev.
He noted that he is referring to the longer-range AGM-88E AARGM anti-radar missiles with a range of up to 150 km, which are capable of operating not only against radar stations, but also against ground targets, in particular, UAV control points or SAM system locations.
The 1RS2 "Helmet" guidance radar and 10ES1 multispectral optoelectronic modules of the Pantsir-S1 systems will be able to detect them at a distance of up to 14 km and establish tracks at a distance of about 12 km, simultaneously intercepting up to 3 missiles in difficult weather conditions, or up to 4 missiles in favorable weather conditions.
Damantsev added that the Pantsir-S1 is also ready to counter AGM-158A JASSM and AGM-154E JSOW-ER tactical missiles. Such objects can be detected by radar at a distance of up to 8.5 km and intercepted at a distance of 7 - 5 km.
Modernized Pantsir-SM systems with 1RS1-3 guidance radars based on reflective phased arrays will be able to engage the above targets at distances of 24 and 14 km, respectively, using new two-stage 57E6M interceptor missiles.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that Russian electronic warfare diverted a Western GMLRS projectile and saved the Malva self-propelled gun from a strike. As a result, the domestic equipment suffered minor damage.
