WhatsApp has started testing a new feature. Soon, the messenger will have the ability to convert voice messages in Russian into text.
The option will be available on the Android platform after the update. Previously, only users of iOS devices could read voice messages.
The feature was developed for those who prefer to read text rather than listen to voice notes. The developers have already introduced this feature in the iOS application, but it has remained unavailable to Android users until now.
To use the new option, the user needs to download an additional WhatsApp data package. This will allow integrating the transcription into a pop-up window.
The innovation will help people with hearing impairments and users who find it more convenient to read rather than listen to messages. Voice-to-text conversion is available in Russian, English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Hindi.
It is worth noting that a similar function exists in other messengers. In Telegram, it was created in 2022, but it is only available to users with a paid Premium subscription.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that WhatsApp's operation has been slowed down in Russia.
