The newest icebreaker for the Pacific Fleet, "Evpatiy Kolovrat," has passed state tests

The raising ceremony of the St. Andrew's flag is coming soon

According to the Ministry of Defense, the icebreaker in Kamchatka successfully passed the test of seaworthiness, maneuverability, air navigation equipment, and ship systems. It was conducted by representatives of the manufacturing plant, the St. Petersburg shipbuilding "Almaz."

"Evpatiy Kolovrat" will be used for the detachment of auxiliary vessels of troops and forces in the northeast of Russia as part of the Pacific Fleet. According to the press service of KB "Vympel", representatives of the Navy signed the acceptance certificate in mid-June.

According to the Ministry of Defense, "in the near future" the ceremony of raising the St. Andrew's flag and the official acceptance of the icebreaker into the Navy will take place in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. According to Russian law, the solemn raising of the flag can take place:

  • on days declared public holidays of the Russian Federation (or on other holidays — by order of the commander of the fleet/flotilla);
  • on the Day of the Navy, when the naval flag is presented to the ship and its first raising on the ship, on the days of the ship's annual holiday (formation);
  • on other memorable days — by order of the commander of the fleet (flotilla).

Thus, the nearest date when this could happen is Navy Day, July 28.
