The Indian state-owned company Armoured Vehicle Nigam Limited (ANVL) is going to license the production of the K-53949 "Typhoon-K" armored vehicle of the MRAP class (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected). It was developed by the Russian company JSC "Remdiesel". This is reported by Army Recognition, which is monitoring the deal.
It is noteworthy that in India they paid attention to the Russian armored vehicle K-53949 "Typhoon-K". They were not interested in the British Mastiff and the American Cougar of a similar class.
"Typhoon-K" is designed for the safe transportation of troops and military cargo in areas with a high risk of landmines. The armored vehicle is equipped with a Cummins diesel engine with a capacity of 350 horsepower in combination with a six-speed automatic transmission, which allows it to reach speeds of up to 105 km/h.
"Typhoon-K" can be equipped with a remotely controlled combat module for machine guns of 7.62 mm, 12.7 mm and 14.5 mm calibers, as well as 30-mm automatic grenade launchers. Its armor protects against 14.5-mm armor-piercing bullets and can withstand explosions of up to 10 kg of TNT under the wheels and 8 kg under the floor.
