The National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE University) has created a "Declaration of Ethical Principles for the Creation and Use of Artificial Intelligence Systems." The document was approved by the Academic Council of the university on June 26 of this year.
The declaration contains a number of rules and principles aimed at the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI):
- Live communication is a priority. Neural networks should not replace interaction between people.
- Competent use. Students should be taught to critically analyze AI solutions.
- Transparency of application. All students are required to report in which scientific projects neural networks were used.
- Academic integrity. Academic work must be done independently, AI is an information aid.
- Protection of intellectual property rights. Confidential information can only be entered into neural networks with appropriate permission.
- No bias or discrimination. It is necessary to control AI to avoid reproducing biased stereotypes embedded in its databases.
- Accessibility to use. All students have the opportunity to use neural networks in the educational process.
- Right to restrictions. The university reserves the right to impose a ban on the use and development of neural networks if this negatively affects the activities of the university.
- Responsible attitude. All developments in the field of neural networks must be carried out in accordance with the law.
Our goal is not only to train employees and students to work with artificial intelligence, but also to develop their critical thinking and conscious attitude to new technologies. We went through many stages of discussion of the document, since the issue of AI is undoubtedly complex and concerns absolutely everyone - both current employees and students, and those who will be admitted to us.
According to the developers of the document, it will make the use of AI meaningful. Representatives of the teaching staff of HSE University hope that the declaration will become an example for higher education in Russia as a whole.
Earlier www1.ru reported that students of Arkhangelsk University will be able to involve neural networks for writing diplomas, but no more than 40%.
