With the start of production of LADA Iskra, AvtoVAZ will finally retire one of the cars in the Granta family. We are talking about the station wagon version of the Granta Cross, which is planned to be discontinued in the spring of 2025. This is reported by insiders.
The decision is due to the fact that the Iskra and Granta cars are considered by AvtoVAZ to be close in concept. At the same time, the Granta Cross model may hinder good sales of the new product from AvtoVAZ. That is why it was decided to free it from intra-corporate cooperation.
AvtoVAZ did not deny or confirm this information. A representative of the auto giant said that it is too early to talk about any decision. He urged to wait for the start of production of the new model.
Perhaps the plant itself has not fully decided what to do with the cross-version of the Granta. Earlier, the head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, stated that the Granta would be discontinued after the launch of the Iskra. Then the company changed its mind.
The thing is that LADA Granta remains the cheapest car on the market of new cars in Russia. And after it is discontinued, what will people who do not have enough money for a car more expensive than Granta buy?
Recall that now the models of the Granta family are produced in three versions: sedan, liftback, as well as a five-door Cross version. The station wagon is available with a 1.6-liter engine (in versions of 90 and 106 horsepower), as well as a five-speed manual transmission.
