Pilot Kobets: We tested the ejection system on the Ka-52 helicopter after being hit by MANPADS

The crew of the Russian Ka-52 became the testers of the ejection system on the helicopter, said Russian military pilot Lieutenant Colonel Roman Kobets. According to him, the system had to be activated after the "Alligator" was shot down from MANPADS.

We had to activate the ejection system on the helicopter. In fact, we became its testers. Impact, strong vibration, all the displays are on fire. Further flight was not possible, the helicopter was completely uncontrollable and was falling apart in the air. A decision was made in a matter of seconds.

The pilot noted that for ejection, he only had to pull the handle, after which the helicopter "does everything itself." The pilots left the cockpit at an altitude of approximately 100 meters.
