No answer: Roskomnadzor plans to start blocking calls from 5% of operators not connected to "Antifraud"

The measures were taken due to updated recommendations for telecom operators

The Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Main Radio Frequency Center" (GRChTs, subordinate to Roskomnadzor) warned telecom operators about the future blocking of calls from numbers not connected to the "Antifraud" system. This was announced by Nikita Kapitansky, General Director of TeleStor, during his speech at the Night Telecom Forum.

The initiative is planned to be implemented due to the adopted recommendations for telecom companies.

According to them, the company must terminate the call to its network if the caller's number is not connected to "Antifraud". Formally, operators have 120 days to fulfill the requirement, but some market participants applied the guidelines earlier.

According to him, there are about 2,000 telecom operators in Russia, more than 50% of them do not use "Antifraud". Most often we are talking about small companies with one telephone exchange.

Kapitansky stressed that it would be more logical to extend the deadlines for connecting to the "Antifraud" program. Otherwise, all subscribers of operators will suffer — their calls will be blocked.

A representative of Roskomnadzor confirmed that the guidelines for telecom operators have been updated.

These measures are necessary to protect people from fraudsters and extortionists. Calls from spoofed numbers are one of the most common methods of fraud.

According to the agency's statistics, more than 95% of operators required to use the system for call verification are currently connected to "Antifraud".

It is worth noting that the "Antifraud" system was launched in 2022. Russian telecom operators were supposed to connect to the program by March 1 of this year — not all companies fulfilled the requirement. The program allows you to identify calls from fraudsters with spoofed numbers.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the Central Bank and the Ministry of Internal Affairs want to create an antifraud platform to combat fraudsters.
