The Federal Center for Brain and Neurotechnologies of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency (FMBA), in collaboration with the research center "Motorica," has signed an agreement to establish a new center for cybernetic medicine and neuroprosthetics in Moscow. This was reported by the FMBA press service.
The new facility plans to implement non-invasive and invasive neuromodulation systems and digital diagnostics for patients' conditions. It will have all the conditions for postoperative rehabilitation of patients.
The main tasks of the Center will be the development and implementation of domestic neurostimulators, the integration of the practice of using "brain-computer" interfaces, as well as the restoration of sensitivity after amputation of limbs with the help of prostheses and the adjustment of feedback between the nervous system and the computer.
The new center for cybernetic medicine will use spinal and brain stimulation technologies, as well as techniques for stimulating peripheral nerves. This will suppress the symptoms of Parkinson's disease, phantom and neuropathic pain.
Earlier, www1.ru wrote that at the SPIEF, "Motorica" presented working prototypes of new prosthesis control systems that will allow controlling each finger individually with natural movement.
