MT-12 "Rapira" crews provide fire support to motorized riflemen

Crews of 100-mm MT-12 "Rapira" anti-tank guns of the "Center" group of troops provide highly effective fire support to assault motorized rifle units of the Russian Armed Forces. They use the Soviet towed smoothbore anti-tank gun (produced at the "Yurginsky Machine-Building Plant"), which is called the "sniper rifle of artillerymen."

The MT-12 "Rapira" is distinguished by its high accuracy of fire with semi-direct aiming and sufficient accuracy of fire from a closed position with an elevation angle of the gun up to 10°. High-explosive fragmentation projectiles ZOF35K are usually used to defeat manpower or fortifications.

Targets at a distance of up to 7300 m can be hit with 3-5 shots. Cumulative projectiles ZBK16M are used to defeat strongholds, and anti-tank guided missiles 9M117 are used to defeat armored vehicles.

The rate of fire of the anti-tank gun is up to 12 rounds per minute. The MT-12 "Rapira" is towed on a gun carriage. Its weight is 3.1 tons.
