Russian military personnel on the front lines are using the Orlan-30 UAV to identify camouflaged enemy positions and direct artillery and aviation. The launch of the device is carried out using a launch arrow or a "slingshot", as the military themselves call it.
The drone is capable of operating at altitudes from 3.5 to 4.5 km for up to 8 hours, uncovering enemy positions. Also, the operators of the Orlan-30 adjust artillery calculations, which use standard unguided artillery shells.
The maximum payload of the UAV is up to 8 kg, which makes it possible to equip the Orlan-30 with gyro-stabilized turret optoelectronic sighting systems with both long-focus TV modules and high-resolution IR sensors, such as the ZALA 421-16E HD, or the S350M Supercam.
Tactical and technical characteristics of Orlan-30:
- Wingspan — 3.1 m
- Length — 1.8 m
- Cruising speed — up to 150 km/h
- Practical range — 600 km
- Flight duration — from 10 to 18 hours
- Radius of action — up to 120 km
- Practical ceiling — 6000 m
