Калининград поставит на конвейер выпуск двигателей для российских спутников проекта «Сфера»

"Roscosmos" Head Yuri Borisov Inspects "Fakel" Workshop and Other Production Sites

During a visit to the Kaliningrad region, the head of "Roscosmos," Yuri Borisov, visited a workshop for the production of engines for the "Sphere" project satellites, which will soon be operational.

The repair and technical re-equipment of the facility under the management of OKB "Fakel" (part of AO "NPO Energomash" of GK "Roscosmos") has already been completed. After receiving permission from Rostekhnadzor to put the facility into operation, modern high-precision machines for the serial production of thermocatalytic engines will be installed in the workshop.

Also, according to the state corporation, its head inspected the construction site of a new building, in which serial assembly of thermocatalytic engines for spacecraft will be launched on a conveyor basis by the end of the year. This future facility was highly appreciated.

Creating serial production of spacecraft is the main priority in our work today. Transferring satellite construction to a conveyor is an absolute necessity; fixed assembly should only remain for unique, single devices at the level of interplanetary stations or space observatories. Only in this way can we provide customers—both state and private—with the necessary number of high-quality spacecraft at a competitive price.
Yuri Borisov, head of GK «Roscosmos»

Earlier in early June, it became known that the director of "Fakel," Gennady Abramenkov, and the director of the Kaliningrad Region Entrepreneurship Support Center "My Business," Kirill Lilo, signed a targeted loan agreement for the new serial production of stationary plasma engines SPD-70M. The service life of such an engine is more than 9,000 hours. It can be installed both on domestic satellites of the "Sphere" group and on other satellites.
