Artillerymen practiced defense against naval drones

The small artillery ship "Volgodonsk" of Project 21630 went to the Caspian Sea, where it worked out combat training tasks: hit a single mine, practiced firing at an air target, and also defended against naval drones. This is reported by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

A single mine was discovered at a distance of 500 meters from the ship. The crew first evaded the mine, and then destroyed it with a large-caliber Vladimirov tank machine gun (KPVT). During air defense exercises, the sailors practiced shooting with small-caliber anti-aircraft artillery at an air target.

The next stage of the exercises was the defense of the ship against naval drones. Three unmanned boats were discovered three kilometers from "Volgodonsk." The sailors took up firing positions and worked on targets with all small-caliber fire weapons: from 30-mm artillery mounts AK-306 to Kalashnikov assault rifles and machine guns. All training targets were hit.

It should be reminded that the ship "Volgodonsk" was laid down on February 25, 2005, at the Almaz shipyard in St. Petersburg. It was launched on May 6, 2011. The ship belongs to the Caspian Flotilla.
