Self-propelled 240-mm mortars 2S4 "Tulip" began to be equipped with anti-cumulative screens from enemy FPV drones. The protection consists of two segments.
Due to the design features of the swinging artillery part of the "Tulip", the "visor" does not provide 100% protection against drones, but significantly minimizes the likelihood of the mortar being hit.
2S4 "Tulip" is considered the most powerful mortar in the world. For Russian soldiers, this is a key tool for destroying highly protected buried fortifications of the enemy. It is also used to strike at industrial zones.
In addition to the brazier and the usual 53-VF-864 mine of 240 millimeters caliber, the video shows an active-rocket projectile 3VF2 (ARM-0 "Gagara"). It contains more explosive (46 kilograms versus 32 kilograms for a conventional mine) and has a longer firing range - 20 kilometers (while a conventional mine has a firing range of 10 kilometers).
The "Tulip" was developed by Soviet gunsmiths and is still in service with the Russian Armed Forces. It fires high-explosive fragmentation mines at a distance of 9.65 km, and active-rocket mines 3F2 "Nerpa" - almost 20 km.
