Rostec specialists have modernized the design of mortars to improve firing accuracy. The changes affected the base plate of the artillery gun, the state corporation's press service reported.
The plate is one of the important elements of the mortar, it absorbs the reverse shock impulse of the shot and maintains the stability of the gun. The plate is made of high-strength steel alloys.
The new design of the mortar plate allows the gun to fit more tightly to the ground. This increased its stability when firing from unprepared positions.
The Rostec press service stated that modern mortars are effective and reliable in operation. They have proven themselves well in combat conditions, especially silent models.
As a result, the enemy learns about the shelling moments before the strike and often does not have time to take cover.
Mortars are classified as artillery guns. They do not have recoil devices and a carriage, they are replaced by a base plate or a self-propelled chassis.
