The dry cargo ship "Zelenega" rammed a railway bridge in Rostov-on-Don. The heavy ship was unable to sail to the open span of the bridge and crashed into a non-navigable span. The dry cargo ship had its captain's bridge and wheelhouse destroyed. According to the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations, the incident occurred due to a steering failure.
No one was injured. The ship was towed to the pier. The bridge functioned as usual, but later a limited speed limit was introduced for railway trains on it. It will be in effect until the road surface is inspected.
The dry cargo ship "Zelenega" was launched in 1978. Its length is 86 meters and its width is 11.6 meters. It operated on the Rostov-on-Don - Kerch line, sometimes calling at the ports of Kavkaz and Azov.
