Will Carry More Than a Quintal of Cargo: SARMA Cargo Drone Created in Novosibirsk

The drone is equipped with a gasoline ICE and an electric motor

Scientists from Novosibirsk State Technical University (NSTU) have developed the SARMA cargo drone. It is designed for cargo transportation, agricultural work, and monitoring. This was reported by the university's press service.

The UAV is capable of lifting cargo up to 120 kg, and its flight range is 1200 kilometers. SARMA weighs 155 kg, has a wingspan of 12.2 meters, and a length of 5.2 meters. The drone requires a площадка размером не менее 100х25 метров area of at least 100x25 meters for takeoff.

The gasoline ICE and electric motor ensure easy takeoff and altitude gain. SARMA differs from other UAVs in its corrugated wing skin profile (developed by the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences). This technical solution improves flight safety at low speeds.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that unmanned trucks in Russia could be launched on the M-12 and M-4 highways.
