Rosaviatsiya reported that carriers will assist veterans of the Great Patriotic War ahead of May 9. Defenders of the Fatherland will be able to obtain free tickets for flights within Russia for themselves and their loved ones. They will be offered service in lounges with enhanced comfort at airports.

Who is eligible for a free flight:

  • veterans with disabilities of groups 1-3
  • participants of the Great Patriotic War and persons equated to them
  • Russians who were born from 1941 to 1945

Rosaviatsiya pointed out that Aeroflot is issuing free tickets for the veteran and an accompanying person until May 12. Nearly 30 other carriers have offered discounted tickets. These include S7, Red Wings, NordStar, Alrosa, and Vologda Aviation Enterprise.

At Domodedovo, Vnukovo, and Sheremetyevo, veterans will be greeted by volunteers who will help them get to the Victory Day celebration venues.
