В России появятся специальные фермы для сокращения CO₂

Scientists from Chechnya are engaged in creating special carbon polygons

Special farms, the purpose of which is to reduce the level of CO₂, are being developed in the Chechen Republic. Tests of new systems have begun there, allowing to track the level of greenhouse gases in different regions of the Caucasus. One such research polygon was shown to journalists.

The main location of the carbon polygon (a site for studying the carbon balance) is the weather station. It is equipped with advanced equipment. With its help, scientists study climate changes caused by anthropogenic activity.

The station is located on the southern slope of the Makazhoy basin at an altitude of 1800 meters. The city of Khoy is located near the polygon.

We are studying the height of the litter, that is, layers of grass that accumulate and overlap from year to year. The carbon reserves that are concentrated in both aboveground and underground biomass directly depend on this.
Rashiya Bekmurzaeva, Head of the Laboratory "Monitoring Climate Changes "Carbon"

The tasks of scientists include the use of innovative methods to combat negative climate changes. Future plans include the creation of a unified national system for assessing the carbon balance of the territory of the Russian Federation.

Earlier it was reported that a greenhouse gas monitoring system was launched at the drifting polar station "North Pole-41".
