Despite the spring weather and the absence of snow on the streets, Russians should not rush to change their winter tires to summer tires, according to auto expert Valery Arutin. You should go to the tire shop when the air temperature is above +7°C.
Mass tire change begins after the average daily temperature consistently stays above +7°C
He advised to sign up for tire service in advance so as not to stand in queues. Before changing winter tires, the auto expert recommended checking summer tires for wear.
The tread depth of summer tires should be at least 1.6 mm, but preferably at least 3 mm
According to him, old tires should be replaced with new ones if their service life with constant driving exceeds five years. The optimal shelf life of tires without use is ten years.
It should be remembered that it is not recommended to drive on winter tires in warm weather: the tread wear increases and the braking performance of the car deteriorates.
