The Russian company AGR Automotive Group (AGR LLC), which owns the former Hyundai plant, announced that Solaris HS cars will soon appear at dealers. Shipments of vehicles are already underway. These cars — the well-known Hyundai Solaris to Russians — will be available in several trim levels.
The car will be available with a choice of gasoline engines of different volumes and different types of transmissions. Thus, a 1.6-liter engine with a capacity of 123 horsepower will have a 6-speed automatic transmission, and a car with a 1.4-liter engine will be equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission.
The cost of cars in the basic version with manual transmission will start from 1.65 million rubles. In total, buyers will have access to three to five trim levels. Anna Utkina, Director of Communications of AVTODOM Group and AvtoSpetsCenter Group, said this in a comment to the Autostat analytical agency. According to her, the cars will appear at official dealers by the end of March.
According to the Avtopotok Telegram channel, prices for cars with automatic transmission will vary from 1,929,000 to 2,192,000 rubles. Thus, the new two-pedal Solaris turned out to be more expensive than the Lada Vesta with a variator. For a sedan from AvtoVAZ with a 122-horsepower engine with a volume of 1.8 liters, they ask from 1,588,900 to 1,885,900 rubles. AvtoVAZ published these prices on its website. It is possible that Lada Vesta will be even more expensive at dealers.
Lada Vesta and Solaris are B-class cars. This segment has noticeably decreased after foreign automakers left the Russian market. With the return of Solaris HS to the market, it will compete with the top car from AvtoVAZ.
The St. Petersburg plant has been idle for almost two years. We have made great efforts to quickly start shipping cars, which are so awaited by the dealer network and Russian buyers
In addition to Solaris HS, AGR plans to produce Kia Rio in Russia under the name Solaris KRS, as well as a modification of Solaris KRX, better known as Rio X. In addition, Hyundai Creta will return to the Russian market. It will be renamed Solaris HC.
It is not known exactly how the production of Korean cars is налажено. Perhaps they are assembled from car kits that remained after the car enterprise was idle.
In addition to Solaris, the Korean steel manufacturer Hyundai Steel is returning to the Russian market. According to the Avtopotok Telegram channel, the AGR group of companies has a request for steel products. It is likely that production will be resumed in Sestroretsk. At the same time, Hyundai Motor declined to answer the question of whether it would supply components to the owners of its former plant in St. Petersburg.
Our company cannot comment on activities that take place in Russia after we sold our stake in the region
Recall that the Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg stopped producing cars in March 2022. In December 2023, it became known that Hyundai Motor had decided to sell the production sites to Art-Finance, which had previously bought Volkswagen's Russian business. The AGR distributor is part of the Art-Finance group.
Earlier www1.ru wrote that AGR Automotive Group announced a large-scale rebranding of the dealer network, consisting of 400 companies.
