Russia has developed the Piranha FPV kamikaze drone, which is capable of withstanding electronic warfare and destroying heavy armored vehicles. The uniqueness of the development, according to data from open sources, was confirmed by the Ministry of Defense.
In use by the Russian military, it has shown that it is capable of destroying even the practically invulnerable American Abrams tank of the M1A1SA (AIMv2) modification (with third-generation uranium armor).
The characteristics of the superdrone were found out by "RG". According to him, the Piranha Design Bureau in Ulyanovsk has developed a whole family of "Piranhas". Specifically, the one that hit the "Abrams" is the "Piranha 10".
It has a payload of up to 4.5 kg and is capable of carrying a tandem cumulative warhead of the PG-7VR Resume rocket-propelled grenade.
The radius of action can reach 8-10 kilometers.
PG-7VR "Resume" is one of the most powerful tandem anti-tank rocket-propelled grenades in the world with a caliber of 64/105 mm. It flies at a maximum speed of 200 m/s and penetrates even monolithic armor of 600 mm. The pre-charge of the rocket-propelled grenade copes with the dynamic protection of any equipment.
"Resume" weighs 4.5 kg and overcomes not only monolithic armor of 600 mm, but also two-meter brickwork, a meter and a half layer of reinforced concrete. As well as the wall of a pillbox in 2.7 meters and the ground at 3.7 meters.
"Piranha 10" can carry not only them, but also PG-7VL monoblock cumulative grenades.
PG-7VL is a little more modest, its caliber is 93 mm. It has a maximum sighting range of 300 meters, and penetrates armor of 500 mm. It also penetrates brick walls by 1.7 meters, reinforced concrete shelters by 1.2 meters, and wood and earth shelters by 2.4 meters. Such grenades can be delivered by drones at distances of up to 12-15 kilometers, depending on the weather situation and interference.
As for interference from electronic warfare equipment, the Piranha Design Bureau told TASS that their development is unique and can withstand various similar means.
No one has video transmitters at this frequency. We presented our drone at the Era technopolis. During the testing by electronic warfare equipment [...][it turned out to be] the only drone that could not be suppressed.
It is noted that these characteristics were confirmed even in the official conclusion from the Ministry of Defense.
