"Omsktransmash" has filed an application to register a trademark for the heavy flamethrower system (TOS-3) "Dragon", which is a continuation of the TOS-1A "Solntsepek" and TOS-2 "Tosochka" lines. Apparently, the system will receive a tracked, rather than wheeled, chassis.
The decision of the Omsk engineers is justified: the cross-country ability of such a chassis is higher. This was confirmed by the use of other versions of the TOS in combat operations in rough terrain. This is also supported by the fact that T-72 and T-80 tanks are produced at "Omsktransmash".
Military equipment experts believe that the "Dragon" will not need a transport-loading vehicle. That is, specialists will implement the principle of "I carry everything with me", like the "Tosochka". At the same time, trucks can bring up ammunition.
Since the "Dragon's" combat module consists of 15 guides, this will affect the firing range and power of the projectile. It is possible that the TOS-3 will fire TBS-M3 rockets, which were developed for the "Tosochka". Their peculiarity is a firing range of up to 15 km.
Analysts believe that reducing the number of guides will reduce the weight of the vehicle. Thus, the "Solntsepek" with equipment weighs more than 44 tons and moves at a speed of up to 60 km/h.
Earlier, www1.ru shared a video of the use of the TOS "Solntsepek", hitting a target at long distances.
