The State Transport Leasing Company (GTLK) continues to modernize river transport in Moscow: shipbuilders reported on the transfer of the fifth electric vessel of the "Ecobus" model. These vessels are designed to provide regular transportation in Moscow. Electric vessels for Moscow are being built in St. Petersburg by Emperium, which is part of the Sitronics Group (AFK Sistema).
Given the remoteness of some coastal areas from metro stations, river transport is becoming an attractive alternative for daily trips around the city. The "Ecobus" electric vessels provide transport accessibility without harming the environment, as they run on electric traction.
In addition to Moscow, various regions of Russia, including the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod and Perm, are noting a significant demand for electric vessels. Both cruise and passenger-and-freight ferries for electric crossings are of interest. GTLK is ready to support projects for the development of river electric propulsion.
Ecobuses are developed using domestic materials, structures and advanced technologies. The key components of the manufactured vessels are of Russian origin: propeller-rudder group, engines, power plants, frequency converters, energy storage systems, etc., helmsman's consoles, content output systems for passengers. Each such vessel is equipped with an automatic recharging system when mooring to the pier for boarding/disembarking passengers. Russian high-power rectifiers are installed at charging stations.
Innovative berths, produced in St. Petersburg and Perm, are not just a place for parking and recharging vessels, but entire mini-stations. While waiting for the river tram, passengers can take advantage of equipped recreation areas, cafes, high-speed Wi-Fi and other amenities.
As part of an investment project to update Russia's civil water transport, GTLK is going to order the construction of 16 more "Ecobuses" and 6 "Ecocruisers". In two years, the Emperium shipyard has already built 21 electric vessels, and its production capacity allows it to assemble up to 12 electric vessels per year.
