A training exercise is considered the execution of tasks by a single ship at sea within the framework of its technical characteristics. This tests the readiness of the crew and the ship itself, as well as the ability to conduct combat in various situations.

The "Alexander Obukhov" is the lead minesweeper of Project 12700 "Alexandrite" - developed by the "Almaz" Design Bureau. Currently, the Russian Navy includes 8 ships of this type. They are part of the Baltic, Black Sea and Pacific Fleets.

12700 is the third generation of naval minesweepers. They have high maneuverability, and thanks to the hull made of monolithic fiberglass, their magnetic field is significantly reduced. USC emphasizes that the ships of the "Alexandrite" project surpass foreign counterparts.

Earlier, a laying ceremony of a new minesweeper named after Hero of the USSR Semyon Agafonov took place at the St. Petersburg enterprise.
